Hailing from Santa Barbara, California, The Coral Sea have been seducing both critics and music fans alike in the US over the past 6 months with their self-released debut album, ‘Volcano & Heart’. They now bring their ascendant, dreamlike guitar pop over the Atlantic with debut UK single, ‘Look At Her Face’, to be released on April 24th.

When still a teenager, The Coral Sea’s frontman Rey Villalobos was asked to become the Dandy Warhol’s drummer by his friend Courtney Taylor-Taylor, but turned down the opportunity in order to follow his dream of fronting his own band. He began to wander and travel, eventually calling upon London guitarist Duncan Wright, Chicagoan drummer Matthew Talmage, and Bakersfield bass player James Garza; musicians met on his journeys that he knew could realise the aesthetic he had in mind.

After the distances travelled to bring the members together, the band then incubated away from the surrounding music scene, carefully building an encompassing yet delicate sound with the aid of a classical string quartet. The music created became the ‘Volcano & Heart’ album, from which ‘Look At Her Face’ is taken. The track is a perfect reflection of the divergent elements within The Coral Sea, containing a lush, cinematic musical backdrop, whilst lyrically and vocally breaking with delicate fragility.

The momentum of the band continues to build in the US, with Hidden Agenda / Parasol Records (Jose Gonzalez, The Soundtrack Of Our Lives) having just licensed their debut album for North America. They now hope to bring their music to the UK audience with the ‘Look At Her Face’ release.

The single will be issued on limited edition enhanced CD, featuring the promotional video made by Chris Tootell (whose animation work featured on Tim Burton’s ‘The Corpse Bride’), and their version of Pixies classic ‘Where Is My Mind?’.
